Doing it right

I grabbed this copy of the latest issue of I-Mag Photography magazine from National Bookstore yesterday, besides being attracted by it’s cover, I regularly buy this mag, I find useful in my effort to hone my photographic skills.
Doing it right

It’s not the cover that attracted me most, in fact, I’m not a big follower of digital art & conceptual photography, I’m still sticking into the old school realistic presentation of photographs. Nevertheless, I admire people who venture & took risks in trying this new avenue, photo art for me is labor intensive & a test of patience, which I am not really good at.

What really caught my attention was an article entitled “Doing it Right: Your Portfolio”, for artist, resumè’s were not printed on a short (or A4 size) bond paper, it’s a collection of previous works, for us photographers printed collection of photographs that will, in a way showcase our skills.

I’ve read a lot of articles on how to prepare a portfolio & yet I’m still struggling in preparing one. About 3 weeks ago, I received a text message from 1 prospective client, they are asking if they can see my work, I directed them to my online gallery & I was happy that they’ve appreciated my works. Then the big question came in next, “where can we see your printed works?”

I don’t currently have sample albums, it’s too expensive to produce, for most studios, portfolio is equals to sample albums being displayed on the racks, for a struggling photographer like me, a portfolio would be a good start.
