The Journey Continues…

I finally got my long dreamed PLDT DSL connection last Monday, this is after almost 2 years of waiting, I first applied for DSL connection in December of 2007 but unfortunately my application was turned down. They were asking for ‘proof of income’ which I can’t provide, I’m self employed (doing photography & some web commerce) and I can’t provide any proof that I’m earning something.

The 2nd attempt was last year, so pissed of my SmartBro connection that time, I ‘pleaded’ (OK that was an overstatement) PLDT to at least consider my application, again it was turned down, yes for the same reason that I can’t provide any proof of income. I gave up, I guess I’ll just be ‘contented’ with I have right now.

It also came to my mind to try those prepaid internet (SmartBro or Globe Tattoo) since it’s faster and according to some more reliable than the fixed antenna connection that I have, the plan didn’t prosper.

But surprises really comes when you least expect it, one day my mother asked me to fill-up another PLDT telephone line application, although I was a little bit hesitant, I granted my mom’s wish. To my surprise, it was approved after about 2 weeks! The thing is, it was in my mother’s name and not mine, well either way, I was just glad to know that finally I’ll be enjoying a better and faster connection.

The telephone line was installed last Saturday, according to the technician, there was no available modem and promise to come back Monday to install it, which they did.

Prior to the connection, I was having problem (again) with my SmartBro connection for about 4 days, it was just timely that my PLDT DSL connection was installed, I tested the connection using speedtest.net and quite happy with it’s performance.

I just hope that it’ll continue to be in good shape.
