ISO1600 on a Nikon D60

This was the second time that I’ve tested the Nikon D60, I blogged about the Active D-Lighting feature of this gear on my other blog. It’s time to test the ISO performance of the Nikon D60, noise is very evident on the older model of Nikon DSLR’s when shooting on high ISO (ISO640 & higher), this has been my problem with my D70.

When I read the Nikon D60’s review, I was impressed by it’s noise handling, now it’s time for me to put it to a test. The following photos were taken inside the University of Santo Tomas campus, post processing were limited to resizing. Oh, before I forget, the Nikon D60 comes with a very good lens, the new AF-S Nikkor 18-55mm VR, I was able to shoot at 1/10″ (& lower) handheld because of the VR (Vibration Reduction) feature of the lens.

I’d say that D60’s high ISO performance is better than my 2 cameras (D70 & D80), the new Active D-Lighting feature made the backlighted subject brighter & the added VR on the kit lens made it possible for me to shoot handheld even on slow shutter speed.

To answer Melai’s question on a comment she posted on my previous entry, the kit costs 30,000 pesos, more or less US$700, which, I believe to be a good price considering it’s performance. Hmm… The unit (as I mentioned on my other blog) is not mine, I’d love to have one on my own. :p
