It pays to wait!

When I was scouting for a domain name for my personal blog, it was the term “masterbetong” that came to my mind. Then, I decided to use the .net TLD (top level domain) extension since the domain is not intended for commecial (.COM) purposes (at least that’s what I used to know).

After a few months, I realized how valuable a .COM domain is so I checked if the domain is still available, sad to say, it was already registered.

January of this year (2008) a certain Matthew Smith wrote me an e-mail asking if I’m interested in purchasing the domain from him, he asked me to bid for the name. When I checked the link that he provided, the minimum bid was $100. Well, I’m not really interested of acquiring masterbetong.com.

Again in May of this year, a certain Daniel Kagan e-mailed me & asking me to bid on the same domain, deadma na lang. Actually I checked the whois info of the domain & here’s what I found out.
Masterbetong.com whois record

It was parked (and being offered) at SEDO.com for a minimum bid of $100.00, hmmm… I’m still not interested.

Earlier today, I checked masterbetong.com’s whois info & found out that it was dropped (nagsawa rin! hahaha!), good thing that I still have some dough on my PayPal Account, I immediately registered the domain!

It really pays to wait!

  1. Happy New Year, Master! So .com ka na?

  2. Nakuha din, kala nila makakaisa (daang dolyar) sila sau…hehe!!!

  3. @Karen, Happy new year din sa ‘yo, hindi ako lilipat sa .com, naka-forward siya ngayon, sayang yung inabot ng .net, medyo malaki na kinita nito.

@Major, hehehehe! Meron pa kong inaabangan, mejo mabigat ang kalaban, mukhang expert domainer.

  4. Masterbetong! belated happy holidays. Glad you got the dot com… so youre getting serious na rin sa domaining? exchange naman tayo thoughts. Hope I could hear from you soon.

    cheers,
    jayl

  5. btw, why not try to redirect the .com to .net? :D para hindi naka tengga yung dot com? by word of mouth, users might tend to put automatically the extension .com after masterbetong. if redirected, they will be warped to this .net and that means, no lost traffic = no lost moolah.

    watcha think? just a thought.

  6. @Jayl, namumulot lang ng domain, nakakatsamba sa mga dropped domain. Yeps naka-point na yan sa .net since nabili ko, sayang din yung traffic ng .com.

    jayl
