It’s father’s day
It’s seems like a regular Sunday morning for me, a few Sundays when I can go to church since I didn’t work late last night or I don’t have to cover any wedding today. The only difference was my nephew was so excited to announce that it’s his birthday & waiting for a gift from me.
As usual, I left the house to attend the Sunday Service, midway on the service when our Pastor left the pulpit & called on every father to approach the altar, that’s the time that I went out of the church building. For the last 12 years I avoided the melancholy of such a ritual, of calling all the fathers & recognizing their greatness & with the kids offering gifts as token of their appreciation.
I don’t think I’m entitled to such an honor… As I was avoiding the scene, a kid approached me & handed me a small green piece of paper saying “Kuya, nabigyan kayo nito?” I took the paper & read what’s written on it.
God took the STRENGTH of a mountain,
The MAJESTY of a tree,
The WARMTH of a summer sun,
The CALM of a quiet sea,
The GENEROUS SOUL of nature,
The COMFORTING ARM of night,
The WISDOM of the ages,
The POWER of the eagle’s flight,
The JOY of a morning in spring,
The FAITH of a mustard seed,
The PATIENCE of eternity,
The DEPTH of a family need,
The God combined these qualities,
When there was nothing more to add,
He knew His MASTERPIECE was
complete,
And so, He called it… DAD
What more can I say? I just took a deep breath & prayed…
