Remembering those who left us
It’s the first day of November and it’s customary for Filipinos to remember our departed love ones during this day. The modernization has changed the way (in some ways) how Pinoy’s ‘celebrate’ this tradition. I remember when I was younger, it was not as festive as it is today.
Since it was a Sunday, we first went to attend the Sunday Service, Pastor Jon’s sermon was far from expected, he did not even touch the issue of how do we remember the dead, it was inspiring since he reminded us on how do we put our faith in action by helping the others, those people in need, in the current situation, those people who were affected by the 3 typhoons (Ondoy, Pepeng & Santi) that visited us recently.
We went to the Eternity Memorial Park after the service, it’s where my Lola Ising and nephew Nonoy’s final resting place.

I find the place congested, it wasn’t like the first year that we spent All Saints Day there in 2001, this year, tents are everywhere and it’s harder to roam around.

But I still find it better than the over crowded public cemeteries, at least here, we still have an ample space to stay.

And yes, chow is not a problem, popular fast food chains (i.e. Jollibee, Greenwich, Kenny Rogers Roasters, etc) has put up their stalls inside the memorial garden to serve those people who are visiting their love ones.

And for those who wants some entertainment, the management of the memorial garden had commissioned the service of the Anak Zapote band to play.

Although I believe that our departed love ones should be remembered each and everyday of our lives, but this day remains to be the day when we give special attention to them, I just hope that we’ve dedicated this day for them.
