Who’ll Stop the Rain?
It’s summer and raining, what more can be ironic than that?
I’ve been planning to wash my clothes since Saturday, the sun was up on that day but I missed doing the laundry because some jerk messed up with my schedule. Sunday was church & boxing day (nobody messes up with that), so no wet hands for me. Monday seems a good day to do the laundry and what do you know, the rain started pouring like it’ll never rain again.
I wonder when will I dump my dirty clothes on the washing machine? Also, will it be raining on Saturday? As we all know, the Aliwan Fiesta 2009 grand parade is scheduled on that day, I hope it will not turn out to be a wet aliwan fiesta like what happened last year.
I checked the news on what may be the cause of this unusual raining, PAGASA (Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration) blames the Shallow Low Pressure build-up just 300 kilometers west of Central Luzon for the rains, they are also monitoring it’s movement, as for the possibility that it will turn into a tropical depression, according to them, it might.
It’s not just me that’s being pissed by this daily noontime until evening rains, Manila got flooded this afternoon, imagine that, people should be swimming at the beaches during summer and not in the city streets!
One forecaster noted that this weather disturbance can be attributed to global warming, he said that although it is normal for us to experience rains in April but not this much.
Amazingly, that’s the answer that I was looking for, is this part of the global effect of what we have done for this world of ours? Today is Earth Day, I saw a lot of gimmicks and activities to celebrate it, but wait a minute, shouldn’t we be doing the tree planting, the river clean up and other so-called Earth Day activity 365 days a year?
Let’s contemplate not what we are doing to help clean up the Earth but rather what little things we do to hurt her.
