Higantes, Street Dancers & Floats at Ayala Avenue

May 15th, 2008 · 1 Comment

The roads of the Makati’s Central Business District was congested last Friday 09 May 2008, instead of the PUV’s & other vehicles plying the Ayala Avenue, it was closed to traffic to give way to the opening salvo of Makati’s 338th Founding Anniversary Grand Parade.

Higantes (Giant paper mache), Marching Bands, Street Dancers, Floats & Delegation from the Sister Cities & Municipalities of Makati were on the street to celebrate the 338th Anniversary of the City of Makati.

4 Years of Blogging

May 13th, 2008 · 6 Comments

4 years
Yeps, you heard (read) it right, I’ve been blogging for 4 years now, after 1,461 days of blogging, this blog has had 2 domain names (http://southpawlife.com & http://masterbetong.net), 754 posts, 5 pages & 2,335 comments (thanks to all of you). I had interacted with several people, met some of fellow bloggers & made friends with them, truly blogging had opened up a different avenue of communicating for me.

The virus spawned into more blogs (and domain names), http://pinoyweblisting.com was born 2 years ago & http://rickyrefuerzo.com last year. I was just thinking recently, how long will I be doing this? The answer is simple, as long as I can write, I’d be blogging.

Salamat sa mga kaibigan na patuloy na nakikinig at nakikibasa sa aking mga kwento.

Ooops!

May 9th, 2008 · No Comments

Almost a week na pala since the last time na nag-update ako, parang sobrang tamad kong magsulat ngayon, hehehehe! Wala namang masyadong activity the past days besides kanina. I went to shoot the Makati’s 338th Founding Anniversary grand parade. I will share the photos in the next few days.

Bukas (Saturday) & Sunday I will cover my hometown’s fiesta, it’ll be a 2 day activity, the Karakol (Street Dancing/Mardi Gras) on Saturday & the Parade of the Marching Bands on Sunday. Masyadong marami pala akong pwedeng ikwento next week, and if ever na makapunta pa ako sa Lucban, Quezon on the 15th para sa taunang Pahiyas Festival ibang kwento na naman yun.

Anyways, just stay tuned na lang. Pahinga muna at maaga pa ang alis bukas.

Wet Aliwan Fiesta!

May 4th, 2008 · 6 Comments

It was raining cats & dogs last Friday, which, made me contemplate on covering the Aliwan Fiesta.

But Saturday came & the sun was high up in the sky & it was hot, I went on with my plan of covering the event. It was noon when I arrived at the Quirino Grandstand, the event’s assembly area, I started shooting the entries for the best float.

In quest for the best camera bag

May 2nd, 2008 · No Comments

Finding the best camera bag is a never ending struggle.

There are a lot of considerations, like, the number of gears that you have, is it easy to carry, etc. etc. I myself passed through that kind of struggle, I ended up buying Tamrac Pro 8, I have no complain with it, the bag can fit my 2 DSLR’s (Nikon D70 & Nikon 80 with grip) with lenses attached, 2 SB 800 Speedlights, several other lenses & pockets for accessories.

But you can’t shoot properly with this large bag hanging on your shoulder, that’s why I find it necessary to get myself a belt-system.

Give me a cameraphone & I will shoot

April 28th, 2008 · 7 Comments

Update: Our activity last April 19, 2008 was published by Inquirer.net today, also, check out my latest assignment here.

* * * * * * * *

We had our lunch at Kainan sa Balsa after attending the Sunday Service yesterday, the food is always good, but the ambiance & scene is better, this are the moments that made me say, “where’s my camera?”. My 2 DSLR’s are not suitable for “everyday” use since it’s heavy & bulky, but I won’t let these scene pass by without capturing it. Good thing my sister has her Sony Ericsson K800i with her, I borrowed it & started shooting.

Haring Araw

April 18th, 2008 · 3 Comments

I have this thing about the sun, specially sunset & sunrise. I can’t help but admire it’s beauty, it’s power to change hues before one’s eye. From a calm soft light in the morning to harsh bright during noon, into a sad yet beautiful orange color when it sets.

This maybe the reason why I really take time to capture it’s beauty whenever I have a chance. Let me tell you the stories behind this 2 sun photos.

Let me start when the day starts, this sunrise shot was taken on my way to a photo assignment last April 5, 2007. I was walking towards the main road to fetch a tricycle when I saw this
Bukang Liwayway

The scene made me stop & glance on how beautiful God’s creation can be, I didn’t waste time & grabbed my camera & started shooting, good thing I got my CF card loaded in it. I was amazed on how the sun painted that pinkish cast on the clouds & how it blended well on what was a light blue sky.

Bloggers EB at Max’s Mall of Asia

April 16th, 2008 · 15 Comments

It was almost a year when I last met a group of bloggers, it was when Melai & Niko hosted a lunch date with a small group of bloggers at Gerry’s Grill along E. Lopez Jr. Drive in Q.C.

Now it’s time for Ann & KD to host a Bloggers EB. The meet-up happened yesterday at Max’s Restaurant at the Mall of Asia during lunch time, if my memory serves me right around 16 attended the EB, my bad though, I wasn’t able to get the names & URL of those who attended, although I remember some, I’d rather not mention them to play fair.

Here are some of the pics.
